Julia
was appointed as Artist in Residence by Chester City Council and English
Heritage for their project to excavate Chester's Roman Amphitheatre. Drawing work began mid May 2004 and continued throughout the summer til late September 2005. The aim was to produce an archive of drawings which will document the project. The drawings feature every aspect from site preparation to briefings, from excavation work to activities in the finds room. Archeologists, historians, site contractors and students, film makers and photographers, all appear in the Amphitheatre portfolio. Each piece of work is drawn
onto hand made tinted paper using acrylic inks, pencil, watercolour.....
These are live action drawings made on location, some of which are later
developed in the studio. Signed limited edition archival reproductions of most of the drawings are available to order @ £50, the price reduces if larger quantities are required. They are A3 and printed on high quality matt paper.
To order copies just e mail or telephone the studio, see details below.
